Signalong
The Signalong project has been helping children with communication over the last nine years. This is sign supported speech so your child is still encouraged to talk the signs help with confidence and clarity. We have informal taster sessions, sing and sign weekly and themed days suitable from birth to adulthood.
Structured formal courses from baby sign to phase 1, 2, 3 and 4 are also available. Signalong phase 1 is a good starting point for the development of communication. Phases 2, 3 and 4 extend the range of expression available as the child develops. On average each phase takes 7-10 weeks, and along with your new skills you'll come away with a certificate showing your skills! It is fun to learn and taught with passion.

Signalong training focuses on developing communication skills including aspects of total communication, such as facial expression, body language and voice tone; plus simplification of language and keyword selection; reading signs performed by others. The training programmes are thus able to stress aspects of the application of sign-supported communication.
The Foundation Course develops skills to a level where practitioners can apply signing in their own environment and includes some elements of communication theory. It is a 20-hour course normally delivered over an eight week period, and is the basic building block of Signalong training.
